HT Heating and Cooling System

Always be in your ‘comfort zone’ with our portable air handlers.

The HT Heating and Cooling System is designed to provide both heating and cooling to open spaces where traditional HVAC systems are ineffective. The central unit can supply each portable air handler with up to three tons of heating or air conditioning. You decide where to place the air handlers (up to three per system) to create your ideal comfort zone.

Harnessing the versatility of water and without the use of dangerous materials, the HT Heating and Cooling System safely blows heated or chilled air at a fraction of the cost of other options. The powerful, versatile, safe and efficient way to provide heating and cooling in one system…

Traditional?

HT Heating

  • Five times more efficient*
  • Portable
  • Safe
  • No harmful discharge

  • Cannot overheat
  • Unlimited placement options
  • Can be used in damp conditions
  • Variable fan control
  • Heats a large area
  • Did we say portable?

Propane

  • Higher operation cost
  • Limited to one location
  • Extremely flammable gas and exposed hot surface
  • Limited to well ventilated area

Electric Heating

  • Must be attended due to risk of overheating
  • High heat requires space to prevent damage
  • Risk of shock if wet
  • Fixed speed/no fan
  • Limited radiation
  • Limited to one location

HT Cooling

  • Virtually maintenance free
  • Removes humidity
  • No corrosive elements
  • Small air handler footprint (24”x18”)

  • Cooling capacity of up to 96,000 BTUs
  • Cool as many as three areas in one system
  • Clean cooled environment

Evaporative Cooler

  • High maintenance
  • Increases humidity
  • Bi-product water corrodes metal
  • Large and bulky

Portable AC Units

  • Less powerful
  • Limited to one area
  • Dumps exhaust in to same area

* based on $0.57 per kW and $2.20 per gallon propane

Frequently Asked Questions

The HT Heating and Cooling System has four components. One, the 14 SEER/3.52 COP heat pump condensing unit; two, the 62,000 BTU energy storage tank; three, the immersed bare tube copper evaporator coil in the tank and four, the air handler(s). R-410A Puron® refrigerant adds or removes heat energy (BTUs) from water in the copper coil. The water in the energy storage tank also absorbs energy from the copper coil to allow for heating or cooling even after the condensing unit cycles off. The hot or cold water from the copper coil is distributed to the portable air handlers through a flexible line. The air handler draws air through its hydronic coil, producing heated or chilled air. The system recirculates the water using a pump.

The conductive quality of copper allows the water in the energy storage tank to absorb energy while the condensing unit is powering the heating and cooling of the water. When the energy storage tank water approaches 40°F cooling or 120°F heating, the condensing unit cycles off. The water running to the air handlers continues to be heated or chilled using the BTUs from the water stored in the energy storage tank. When the energy storage tank water rises to 51°F in cooling or lowers to 113°F in heating, the system cycles back on.

Each air handler fan can move 200-1500 cfm of air using the variable speed fan control. Depending on the conditions, this force can heat or cool 600-1500 square feet of space. Each HT Heating and Cooling System can support up to three air handlers which provides up to 8+ tons of air and covers up to 4000 square feet.

Yes, in one of two ways. The condensing unit can be split and placed outside by an HVAC technician up to 200 feet away from the energy storage tank. Or the entire central unit can be placed outside using specific precautions. As with any water system, the HT System must be protected from freezing temperatures. If the central unit will be exposed to temperatures 35°F or below, it must be connected to inside plumbing and the system left turned on continuously. Otherwise, the central unit should be stored inside.

Each component of the HT Heating and Cooling System is energy efficient which makes the entire system cost efficient. The heat pump condensing unit has a 14 SEER/3.52 COP rating, the highest efficiency available commercially. The energy storage tank stores up to 62,000 BTUs of usable energy which allows the HT System to run without additional power at times. The HT method of creating heat through a heat pump is five times more efficient than using propane based on current propane costs. Because it is powerful, you can cover more space for a lower cost.

Propane and electric heating are limited to specific locations and include numerous safety risks including fire and electric shock. Portable air conditioning options create humidity or exhaust. The HT Heating and Cooling System can be placed in numerous locations safely, including damp conditions and unventilated spaces, because it does not use dangerous gases, have exposed hot surfaces and does not create humidity or exhaust.

Applications

The HT Heating and Cooling System was first designed for use in an open bay workshop and warehouse. It allowed the employees to work comfortably while the large bay doors were open during the Texas summer or in icy winter conditions. The HT central unit can be placed in one location and the air handlers moved as needed. Or the HT central unit can be transported, making the opportunities of where else the HT System could be enjoyed endless.
